Food Services Internship

Applications
Intern for the summer, learn to cook, experience a fast-paced environment and an awesome community.

About
The Food Services Internship is a great place to sharpen your cooking skills while serving God and fueling life-changing adventures. Interns will be trusted to assist the Food Services Team in preparing meals and cleaning up. Plus they may have opportunity to develop new recipes, serve as the "head cook," lead volunteers, and mentor others. Interns are required to uphold all Camp Bighorn policies.
If you don't have prior experience, that's okay. Responsibilities can be adjusted to suit your skill-level and goals for the internship.
Minimum Qualifications
Age 18+
The Food Services Intern must be at least 18 years old by the time the internship begins. If you are younger than 18, please consider applying to serve as Summer Staff.
Spiritual Life
Applicants are not expected to have all the answers about Jesus, however, they are expected to display an active faith in Him, rooted in God's Word. The mission at Bighorn is to embody the love of Jesus and develop Christ-honoring leaders, so showing Christ-like love and helping others grow in faith is important!
The Food Services team forms its own Bible study group, due to schedules that vary from the rest of staff, wherein spiritual discussions based on Scripture help everyone mature in their relationship with the Lord.
Job-Related Skills
You will regularly work inside of a team environment, so strong people skills are necessary to maintain a friendly work environment. This includes excellent interpersonal communication and a commitment to resolve conflict.
Other skills
The ability to read, write, and comprehend English is required due training courses, safety policies, and recipe instructions. Basic mathematical calculations, with fractions, are also necessary.
Physical Health
Working in the kitchen is physically active and requires good physical health. Typical activities include standing for multiple hours at a time, lifting heavy objects overhead, and working in high-temperatures. While these tasks are common, applicants with concern about physical limitations will still be considered.
Experience
While prior experience at Camp Bighorn is preferred, it is not required, and individuals with similar experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Camper Safety
All Staff, Interns, and Volunteers 18 years or older will be required to complete a background consent form. This policy helps ensure all adults serving at Camp Bighorn are legally qualified to spend time leading minors.
Finances
Fundraising
While fundraising is not required, all interns are encouraged to share their passion for this season and invite others to help with financial support. Donations processed through Camp Bighorn, on your behalf, are tax-deductible and can be used to pay bills, purchase gear, replace lost income, and so on.
Support raising a stipend is a wonderful opportunity to see God's faithfulness and how is expected of all Bighorn Staff.

Desired Outcomes
Throughout the summer, Food Services Interns will grow more familiar with God's love for them, discover deeper truths about God's character, and leave with a greater awe of His presence and power. Bighorn intentionally creates a healthy, Christ-centered community where meaningful relationships can be formed. Interns will also be challenged to grow through the passing of responsibility. This is an opportunity to develop humility and learn to serve joyfully in any circumstance. By this, we pray that you will leave encouraged and equipped to advance God's Kingdom for a lifetime.
