Camp Bighorn now has two different opportunities, the Explore program and Consortium, available to college students or other adults who desire to cultivate leadership skills in a hands-on environment. These programs are designed to equip students for Kingdom leadership by combining one year of Bible College with practical wilderness skills, and facilitate environments that enable you to learn more of who God is, who we are in Him, and how to interact with those around us. Wilderness skills training, used to challenge the students and prepare them for the adventures they will face in coming years, include whitewater kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, challenge course facilitation, basic map and compass, winter camping, backcountry skiing, mountaineering, and wilderness medicine.
The Explore program and Consortium provide intense times of learning and Christian growth, both outdoors and in the classroom and give the students college credit through several different colleges and universities.
Designed to cultivate solid personal character and skills for kingdom leadership through practical hands-on education in a wilderness setting, Prairie's one-year Explore Outdoor Education provides students with vital training in biblical studies, leadership formation and the development of interpersonal skills.
Real-life wilderness experiences challenge students to process and apply biblical concepts learned through classroom instruction and givei them a better understanding of personality traits, spiritual gifts, teamwork, and conflict management. Each semester of the Explore program schedule is divided into equal time on Prairie's campus and at Camp Bighorn.
